Project Title:

4D Digital Twin for Urban Heat Islands

Project Collaborators:

Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions

The Urban Heat Island is a phenomenon in which temperatures across urban/metropolitan areas are higher than lesser urban areas. The aim of the project was to utilise sensor arrays to assist the thermal modelling of this phenomenon for more sustainable local government asset management.

Approach

The ICP Summer Intern studied and utilised a thermal simulation for the City of Canning to model the heat transfer. They had to request some important data from the city for validation, then they moved onto implementing a digital system to collect the required data.

Outcome

01

An Electronic System prototype was developed and deployed, enabling the collection of important data relating to the Urban Heat Island Phenomenon. This data was then processed and stored for further analysis.
