SportsTech Round Table: Shaping Innovation for Brisbane 2032
In February 2025, QUT Sport and Innovation Central Brisbane hosted a SportsTech Round Table, bringing together industry leaders, academics, and innovators to explore strategies for driving technological advancement in the sports sector ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. Discussions centred on critical topics such as upskilling volunteers, enhancing infrastructure for inclusivity, leveraging data and AI for sports innovation, and fostering sustainability in event management. The collaborative dialogue emphasised the importance of partnerships across sectors to reimagine Australia’s sports ecosystem and create a lasting legacy of innovation, accessibility, and resilience.

QUT Sport Innovation ProtoComp: Advancing Sports Tech through Collaboration
The 2024 Sport Innovation ProtoComp concluded with an inspiring showcase of digital prototypes that highlighted the future of sports tech innovation. Spanning months of workshops, a high-energy hackathon, and the intensive ProtoBuild Program, the initiative empowered participants to tackle real-world challenges in the sports sector. Teams from Queensland Rugby Union, Squash Queensland, School of Exercise and Nutrition Science, and Tenpin Bowling Association of Queensland collaborated to design innovative solutions, supported by mentorship from experts in design thinking and engineering. The final showcase on 8 August 2024 marked a significant milestone, unveiling forward-thinking prototypes to industry professionals and paving the way for sustainable growth and deeper collaboration within the sports ecosystem.
